Hello? This is Dr. Hyocheong Chae, director of Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic, a place where kind hearts reside. My research activities, fueled by a passion for Korean medicine, are ongoing.
In the April issue of Monthly Sunyujae, I introduced a paper published as a co-first author in collaboration with the Korean Medicine Institute, regarding ‘Thoracolumbar Junction Syndrome‘.

Explanation of the paper: This paper, published in an SCI(E) international academic journal in 2023, is about the treatment of low back pain patients caused by Maigne’s syndrome (=Thoracolumbar junction Syndrome). I co-authored this paper as a co-first author in collaboration with the Korean Medicine Institute. I wrote this paper after observing that many patients who visited our clinic with low back pain, having received treatment at other medical institutions without significant improvement, actually corresponded to the Thoracolumbar junction Syndrome mentioned in this paper.
For low back pain patients suffering from this condition, rather than treating only the lumbar region where symptoms manifest, it is necessary to identify the root cause of the disease and examine and treat up to the thoracic region. In such cases, Korean medicine treatments such as acupuncture and pharmacopuncture are very effective. Korean medicine treatments fundamentally examine, diagnose, and treat the root cause of the disease.
I feel this plays a crucial role in understanding and treating various diseases in clinical practice every time, and I published this paper to inform and share appropriate treatment methods with many people.

Patients who visit Sunyujae often comment on our passionate treatment. They say things like, ‘The director treats us so meticulously and passionately,’ and ‘It’s amazing how they pinpoint only the painful spots,’ and so on. I believe our visitors feel our sincere heart in communicating with patients. If you have any discomfort or pain, please visit Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic anytime.
