Hello, this is Dr. Hyocheong Chae, director of Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic in Dongcheon-dong, a place where good hearts reside.

Is there a way to resolve post-surgical pain and joint adhesion? Many people experience unexpected problems during the post-surgical recovery process. Aftereffects such as prolonged pain, joint stiffness, and difficulty moving can make it challenging to return to daily life.
In particular, if joint adhesion occurs after rotator cuff reconstruction or knee joint surgery, the range of motion may be limited, and in cases of meniscal injury, the risk of arthritis may increase, making appropriate treatment essential. To address these issues, Korean medicine utilizes acupotomy treatment. Acupotomy treatment is an effective therapy that releases tissue adhesion, alleviates inflammation, and improves joint movement.
At Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic, post-surgical adhesion and We are researching the effectiveness of acupotomy treatment for patients with limited range of motion due to meniscal injury, and we are recruiting patients to participate in this study. We will provide detailed information about this research.

1. Patients may experience various aftereffects after surgery, such as pain, tissue adhesion, and limited range of motion, which hinder functional recovery in daily life. Stiffness and persistent pain are the most common post-surgical complications, with joint stiffness after rotator cuff reconstruction surgery being a common complication occurring in approximately 20% of patients.
If severe tissue adhesion occurs after surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation may not be sufficient, and repeated use of steroid injections can weaken tendons. 2. The meniscus is a crescent-shaped fibrocartilaginous structure that transmits load through the knee joint, absorbs shock, increases knee joint stability, and provides lubrication.
It is known that over 75% of osteoarthritis patients have meniscal injuries, and meniscal injuries are known to acutely restrict physical activity and subsequently increase the likelihood of arthritis. Acupotomy treatment is a microsurgical technique that effectively separates fibrotic adhesions, alleviates inflammation, improves microcirculation, and promotes tissue recovery and pain relief.
“Therefore, we aim to report on acupotomy treatment efficacy and safety for the two aforementioned conditions through objective research methods.” Recruitment of Research Participants Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic plans to conduct research to establish evidence for the efficacy and safety of acupotomy treatment, specifically ‘the effect of acupotomy treatment on patients with limited range of motion due to post-surgical adhesion’ and ‘research on the effect of acupotomy treatment on patients with meniscal injury of the knee,’ based on numerous clinical experiences to date.
-Therefore, we are recruiting patients who can participate in the following research. Eligibility 1. Individuals who have experienced pain or adhesion after surgery, resulting in limited range of motion (e.g., rotator cuff surgery, supraspinatus reconstruction, lumbar disc surgery, knee joint surgery) 2. Individuals diagnosed with meniscal injury of the knee (those who can submit MRI images)
Method Upon your initial visit to our clinic, you will receive a consultation and examination, followed by weekly acupotomy treatments. The process is identical to regular treatments. Cost For patients participating in the study, there will be no separate acupotomy treatment fees beyond your co-payment.
