Hello, this is Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic, where kind hearts reside.

Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic believes that in addition to treatments in the clinic, academic research and clinical verification, which form the basis of treatment, must also be continuously pursued. 2025 was a significant year as the Journal of the Korean Society of Acupotomy was selected as a KCI-listed academic journal, further expanding the academic standing of acupotomy. In this context, J Acupotomy, published in December 2025, contains research achievements that provide insight into both the present and future of acupotomy treatment.
In this article, we introduce the main contents of the latest issue of J Acupotomy, in which Dr. Hyocheong Chae, director of Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic, participated as planning director, and discuss the directions in which acupotomy research is expanding.

Greetings from Planning Director Dr. Hyocheong Chae: 2025 was A significant year as the Journal of the Korean Society of Acupotomy became a KCI-listed journal. We believe that our journal will lead the development of acupotomy as the nation’s only specialized academic journal for acupotomy. As we conclude this year, we are pleased to publish the December issue of the journal.
This issue features innovative research achievements that demonstrate the academic depth and clinical expandability of acupotomy. Particularly prominent in this issue is the theme of integrating ultrasound-guided technology with acupotomy treatment. A diachronic bibliometric study analyzing 20 years of trends in stroke acupotomy research systematically surveys the trajectory of academic development in the field of acupotomy, serving as an important milestone that suggests future research directions.
Furthermore, a retrospective study on ultrasound-guided acupotomy treatment for plantar fasciitis and the proposed ultrasound-guided technique for cervical epidural pharmacopuncture demonstrate the evolved state of acupotomy, aligning with the era of precision medicine. The scope of acupotomy treatment is now expanding further, with case reports of integrated Korean medicine treatment for moderate idiopathic scoliosis, including acupotomy and scoliotic balance therapy, and acupotomy treatment for restricted range of motion after comminuted olecranon fracture, which have confirmed the therapeutic excellence of acupotomy in musculoskeletal disorders.
These studies commonly feature anatomical precision and the utilization of image-guided technology. This demonstrates that acupotomy is evolving beyond the framework of traditional empirical medicine, harmonizing with and developing alongside the objective verification systems of modern medicine. The active use of imaging technologies, including ultrasound, not only enhances the accuracy and safety of treatment but also contributes to scientifically elucidating the mechanisms of acupotomy treatment.
Throughout 2025, our journal achieved remarkable growth. The direction of integrating modern medical technology and traditional Korean medicine, presented in the June issue of the first half of the year, has become even more concrete and deepened in the second half. This is the result of the continuous efforts of not only our society members but also researchers.
We sincerely thank all researchers who conducted high-quality research and submitted their work for this journal issue. We also express our deep gratitude to the reviewers who enhanced the academic completeness of the papers through rigorous review and constructive feedback, and to the editorial board members who dedicated themselves to the editing process.
In 2026, our journal will continue to faithfully serve as an academic platform for sharing innovative research achievements at the forefront of acupotomy and Korean medicine research. In particular, we will support the balanced development of practical research directly applicable in clinical settings, alongside basic research aimed at elucidating the scientific mechanisms of acupotomy.
We kindly ask for your active participation and interest in the new year, and we look forward to your continued support as acupotomy opens new horizons in Korean medicine. Thank you. We hope you will join Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic, which shares valuable information for a healthy life.
