Hello, this is Dr. Hyocheong Chae, director of Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic in Dongcheon-dong, a place where good hearts reside.

The hot summer has begun. In humid and hot weather, we look for iced Americanos with ice floating in them, and children frequently seek out ice cream or cold drinks. While cold drinks provide temporary coolness, they can sometimes lead to diarrhea or stomachaches.
It’s natural to crave cold drinks when it’s hot, but consuming them too frequently can put a strain on your body. Let me introduce a refreshing tonic for energy recovery to drink during the hot summer.

The IV Drip of Korean Medicine!!! Saengmaeksan is a representative summer tonic! The Saengmaeksan sold at our Korean medicine clinic is a medicinal product and differs from Saengmaeksan sold at pharmacies.
This is Sunyujae’s unique Saengmaeksan, made by adding and subtracting herbal ingredients from the existing Saengmaeksan. Those who have tried Saengmaeksan Plus+ once keep it as a summer essential medicine for the whole family. On hot days, when you have a lot of outdoor activities or sweat a lot and feel thirsty, enjoy a cool glass of Saengmaeksan with ice floating in it!!
It’s our family’s summer tonic. Saengmaeksan, the representative summer tonic! 生脈散 It is said that Saengmaeksan was offered to the emperor during scorching summers to prevent exhaustion from the heat, much like Gongjindan was presented to him. It helps a person’s Qi (氣), lowers heart heat, and cleanses the lungs.
An old tale of Saengmaeksan from Donguibogam: The story of Saengmaeksan also appears in ‘Naeoe Sangbyeon Horok,’ written by Li Dongyuan, one of the Four Great Masters of the Jin-Yuan Dynasties in China, where it was introduced as a medicine that boosts our body’s vital energy. According to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, Saengmaeksan, along with Gyeongokgo, was recorded as one of the most frequently prescribed herbal medicines.
These stories indicate that Saengmaeksan These stories show that Saengmaeksan has helped maintain health and vitality since ancient times. The efficacy of Saengmaeksan: 生脈 (Saengmaek) means to revive the pulse. Saengmaeksan, as its name suggests, is a prescription that revives the pulse, and it is a tonic that replenishes bodily fluids and helps restore energy when one sweats a lot in summer, feels unquenched thirst, and has weakened energy.
Furthermore, Saengmaeksan helps maintain the proper function of the lungs. The lungs are organs that govern respiration and play a crucial role in circulation and bodily fluids. Saengmaeksan boosts the energy of the lungs and heart, facilitating the smooth flow of Qi, and replenishes vital fluids (Jinyeok) that are depleted by exposure to heat, thereby restoring Qi.

Why Sunyujae Saengmaeksan is special! The composition of Saengmaeksan ingredients basically consists of Liriope Tuber (Maekmundong), Ginseng (Insam), and Schisandra Berry (Omiza). Sunyujae’s Saengmaeksan has been formulated to be suitable for everyone by replacing Ginseng with Rehmannia Root (Saengjihwang) to avoid potential constitutional side effects.
By adding Liriope Tuber, Schisandra Berry, and Rehmannia Root as the basic ingredients of Saengmaeksan, and Pueraria Root (Galgeun), Astragalus Root (Hwanggi), Licorice Root (Gamcho), Atractylodes Rhizome (Baekchul), Citrus Peel (Jinpi), Amomum Seed (Sain), and Agastache (Gwakhyang) were added and subtracted to further enhance the effects of Saengmaeksan.
