As a member of the Acupotomy Hands-on Education Committee, Dr. Hyocheong Chae of Sunyujae Korean Medicine Clinic conducted a practical lecture on acupotomy treatment at the International Industrial Expo of Korean Medicine and Integrative Medicine (K-MEX 2025), held at COEX in June. This lecture was designed to be practice-oriented, enabling Korean medicine doctors to treat lumbar and gluteal diseases, which they most frequently encounter in clinical practice, more precisely and safely. Through hands-on practice focused on practical skills for a select few, Korean medicine doctors
were taught to acquire practical acupotomy manipulation techniques and treatment points. On this day, Dr. Hyocheong Chae, leading the practical lecture, systematically guided the participating Korean medicine doctors on the insertion location, direction, depth, and dissection techniques of acupotomy, based on the major anatomical structures of the lumbar spine and gluteal region. As acupotomy treatment is highly effective in treating diseases, a precise understanding of the target anatomical structures is required, and it demands the skill to precisely dissect adhesions.
Therefore, Dr. Hyocheong Chae will continue to participate in education to strengthen the clinical capabilities of Korean medicine doctors in acupotomy treatment, and strive to contribute to the dissemination of acupotomy medicine and public health.
The Korean Acupotomy Medical Society conducted a practical lecture on acupotomy treatment for lumbar and gluteal diseases at ‘K-MEX 2025 (The 2nd International Industrial Expo of Korean Medicine and Integrative Medicine)’ held at COEX, Seoul on June 22, 2025. This lecture was structured to be practice-oriented, enabling Korean medicine doctors to perform treatments for back and hip pain, which they frequently encounter in clinical practice, more precisely and safely, and it received a great response as it was conducted in a hands-on practical format where participants learned direct manipulation.
Acupotomy treatment is a therapy that many Korean medicine doctors are already paying attention to, due to its excellent effects in pain relief and functional recovery. Participants in this conference expressed high satisfaction with the acupotomy practical training, and requests for expanding future practical sessions followed.
